You can easily and safely get rodents out of your home without doing them any harm. Harris Humane Rodent Traps are great for animal lovers who want to catch and release. This can be accomplished in three easy steps.
Step 1: Bait
Start by placing the bait on the bait station at the back of the trap. We recommend using peanut butter on a small piece of cracker or bread as a good bait option, but other things will work as well. Place the bait as far back as possible so that the rodent will move far enough into the trap to trigger the trap door. After the bait is in place, press down the trap door until it locks into position. Set the trap against the wall with the trap door facing areas where you have seen rodents or signs of them.
Step 2: Catch
The trap door is spring loaded and is lightly held by the ramp where the food sits. When a rodent steps on the ramp to eat the bait, it will release the door. This will trap the rodent inside. Our humane traps have air holes for ventilation and are clear so that you can easily see when you catch something. Check the traps often so that you can immediately release anything that you catch.
Step 3: Release
Once you have caught a rat or mouse, take it at least 100 feet away from the trapped area to release it. Simply lift upward to remove the back door of the trap and release the rodent. Our traps can be reused over and over again.
