Question
Shaquerah Wesley –
Do I combine this product with water or just apply it dry?

Riley Sizelove –
Hello,
Do not mix with water. Diatomaceous earth remains effective only when dry; once the item becomes wet, it is rendered useless.
Thanks

Question
Debra –
Is this effective on water bugs/roaches?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Riley Sizelove –
Yes. Harris Bed Bug Killer (diatomaceous earth) kills not only bed bugs but roaches, water bugs and multitude of crawling insects. The diatomaceous earth clings to the crawling insect and slowly causes it to de-hydrate and die. Use as a light crack and crevice treatment. Leave in place for an extended period of time for best results. Leave in place indefinitely and it will still kill insects. The powder does need to remain dry. Thank you. P.F. Harris

Question
Jay –
I have had this product for about a year and a half to two years. I am a bit worried the dust have been frequently airborne in my room. Stuffy congested nose, no breathing issues though. How do I know its airborne? Does it give off a certain smell when airborne? Would two years of exposure be enough for it to be harmful for my lungs further on down the line? Also, is it amorphous DE dust? Or crystalline?

Riley Sizelove –
Thank you for your inquiry. If you are referring to the Harris Bed Bug Killer Powder (diatomaceous earth) this would not be airborne after application unless it were directly disturbed and sent into the air as with maybe a fan directed at the powder. This is to be applied as a crack and crevice treatment applied lightly and uniformly. It does not have an odor. This is amorphous silicon dioxide. Thank you. P.F. Harris

Jay –
Hey, its Jay again. The dust was indeed in the air. Small trace amounts of it were coated on the wall above where the application site was. Is there any long term effects of breathing it in? How harmful is it to the lungs? With it being amorphous based, it shouldn’t be too bad, should it?

Diatomaceous earth is to be used as a crack and crevice treatment. Apply lightly and uniformly. I cannot determine how much you have applied. What is the exact name of the product? We package several diatomaceous earth products. We are not physicians. We cannot give medical advise. The product code is HDE-32.
