How To Get Rid Of Roaches

So you have spotted a roach or two, or ten? First and foremost, you should focus on eliminating any sources of food or water. If you have a leaky faucet or crumbs in the kitchen, it’s a good idea to clean up before using bait of any kind. Avoid leaving garbage open and keep food stored in the refrigerator and cabinets. If roaches remain in your home, it can become unsanitary, lead to asthma symptoms, and other bacteria being spread around your home.

Next, look for areas where roaches could potentially enter. Seal up any cracks in baseboards, under sinks, and around doors.

Knowing that your roach problem could potentially be more serious than it initially seems, it’s important to attack using several different methods.

We recommend placing boric acid powder around the areas where you have spotted cockroaches in addition to kitchens and bathrooms. Powder is great for hard to reach areas such as cracks and crevices and behind refrigerators. You want to achieve a thin layer with minimal clumps. A good boric acid powder will contain a lure to drawn in the roaches. Once attracted, the roach will simply crawl over the powder, which will coat its exoskeleton and ultimately lead to dehydration.

If you are opposed to the use of insecticides, sticky traps provide an effective alternative. These traps are low-cost and provide instant satisfaction, as people are able to see the bugs they catch. Roaches will not die instantly when exposed to boric acid. Dehydration from powder occurs gradually, in many cases after the roach has already made its way out of sight. Understanding this, it’s important to realize that just because you don’t see dead roaches lying around does not mean the problem has not been corrected.
